iDesk Updates

Posted on 12 March 2008 by Bruce

iDesk is currently undergoing upgrades for it’s next release. The updates already include the following features

  • Spam filtering via akismet
  • Search by ticket number (feature was missing in it’s last release)
  • Compatibility with PHP5
  • Browser caching disabled
  • Security fixes

Planned updates before release include

  • The ability to view email headers
  • Disabling HTML email by stripping out HTML tags (as an option)
  • Stripping out javascript and meta tags for security purposes

I have found a few small bugs and possible security issues and have reported them to the programmer. These bugs should be addressed shortly. These include

  • Javascript and meta refresh tags may be processed when viewing HTML email.
  • Tickets with no subject are not able to be opened. Fix with subject rewrite

There is no planned release date for the next release of iDesk. Right now it is undergoing Beta testing in a live environment to work out the bugs in the new features and to add more features that are necessary before release.
